Fiscal Responsibility

The Current government wastes billions on pet projects and corporate welfare while neglecting our roads, schools, and hospitals.  They've returned Alberta to debt and deficits, and continue to raid our children's Heritage Fund.

A Wildrose government will balance the budget, cut wasteful spending, and save for future generations.
Democratic Reform

Alberta was once a proud leader on the issue of democratic reform.  The current government cancelled Senate elections, refuses to set fixed election dates, and even prohibits government MLA's from advocationg publicly for their constituents.

A Wildrose government will set fixed election dates, bring in MLA recall legislation, and bring back free votes to the legislature.

Locally Run Health Care

Despite huge budget increases and changes to the system, access to quality care is worse than ever.

A Wildrose government will make health care work for Albertans and improve access by increasing the number of health care providers, implementing local decision making, and empowering front line health care professionals.

Clean Air, Land, & Water

Albertans demand responsible stewardship of our natural environment.  We believe protecting the environment and ensuring economic prosperity are inextricably linked.

A Wildrose government will reduce tailing ponds, protect our air and watersheds, shift to cleaner natural gas, and ensure land is properly reclaimed following resource development.
Agriculture and Business

In all sectors, the current government has made regulations needlessly obstructive, burdensome, and costly.

A Wildrose government will vigorously reassess the purpose and efficiency of provincial regulations for farmers, ranchers, and businesses.  We will restore the Alberta Advantage for Alberta entrepreneurs.
Property Rights and Power Lines

The current government has undermined landowners and municipal authorities through a series of top-down, government-knows-best laws.  As well, their proposed $16 billion overbuild of power lines will increase the power bills of seniors, farmers, and businesses.

A Wildrose government will repeal Bills 19, 24, 36, and 50 and implement an Alberta Property Rights Preservation Act to protect property rights and provide full, fair and timely compensation to landowners.

As well, we would ensure that a vigorous independent needs assessment is completed before permitting any new power lines to be built.
